ASEAN in collaboration with UN-Habitat organised the ASEAN Sustainable Urbanisation Forum (ASUF) on 6-8 October 2021. The virtual event brought together more than 80 experts and speakers across the region and attracted over 1,400 registered participants from 48 countries.
The event hosted a series of sessions of diverse nature, creating space for rich dialogues on pursuing Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity (MPAC) 2025, particularly ASEAN Sustainable Urbanisation Strategy (ASUS) to taking practical actions and solutions to build more sustainable and inclusive cities.
ASUF put at the center the efforts of cities engaged in the ASUS, ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN), the ASEAN Smart City Trust Fund projects as city representatives sharing plans, experience, and progress in their urban projects, as well as leasson learned. It is also offered participants the opportunity to further connect and establish partnerships to address challenges in implementing sustainable urban solutions in ASEAN. Going forward, ASUF discussed strategies to advance sustainable urbanisation at the city level in alignment with ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the New Urban Agenda toward the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in ASEAN.
ASUF forms part of the project on Accelerating the Implementation of ASUS supported by the ASEAN-Australia Development Cooperation Program Phase II (AADCP II).
